Colegio San Agustin Makati recently held its Institutional Personnel Development (IPD) Day on October 2, 2026, as part of the School’s Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Program, focusing on the timely and meaningful theme:
“Wise Use of and Proper Prompts for AI in Education: Integrating Human Dignity, Ethical AI, and Prompt Literacy for Teaching Excellence.”
The day-long formation began with a primer on Pope Leo XIV’s Magnifica Humanitas, presented by our very own Rector, Fr. Dante M. Bendoy, OSA. His reflection set the foundation for understanding technology not as a replacement for the human person, but as a tool that must always serve human dignity, relationships, and authentic formation.
The sessions that followed, led by Mr. John Paulo Sevilla and Mr. Robert Contreras, explored the fundamentals and applications of Artificial Intelligence in education—from teaching and learning to assessment, administration, and professional productivity.
More importantly, the seminar challenged our personnel to go beyond simply using AI—to use it wisely, ethically, and responsibly. Through prompt literacy, participants learned how thoughtful and context-appropriate prompts can maximize AI tools while preserving academic integrity, critical thinking, professional responsibility, and the irreplaceable value of human judgment.
As an Augustinian community, we continue to embrace innovation while remaining anchored in what matters most: the dignity of every person and the formation of the whole human being.
Technology may expand what we can do.
Wisdom reminds us why we do it.
And human dignity must always remain at the center.
